*Our School Values are: Kindness, Friendship, Teamwork, Equity and Respect*
We are the first school ever in Lewis and Harris to be awarded the Gold School Sports Award from Sport Scotland.
This award comes after a year of hard work from our entire school community in the 2018-19 session.
Our aim is, of course, to maintain a high standard in sporting participation and achievement in the years ahead.
Laxdale was first awarded the Eco Green Flag Status in 2011 as a result of the outstanding work done by pupils within the school and in the wider community. This high standard must be maintained and the school is reassessed every two years by Eco Schools Scotland.
This year we received our sixth Green Flag award and as we continue to focus on the importance of caring for our environment we have begun working towards our seventh.
We started our Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) journey in August 2019. Laxdale pupils and staff worked hard throughout session 2019-20 to raise the profile of ‘Children’s Rights’ throughout the school. Our hard work was recognised when we were awarded our Silver Award, after a virtual assessment, in June 2020. In June 2024 we were awarded our Gold Award after a virtual accreditation.
The RRSA is all about creating safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. As a Rights Respecting School, we strive to embed these values into daily school life to give children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
